The world's largest passenger plane, the Airbus A380, was unveiled today in a elaborate ceremony in France, attended by European leaders including Tony Blair, Jacques Chirac and Gerhard Schroeder.
A £100m redevelopment scheme has started at Heathrow airport to accommodate the new aircraft. A pier at Terminal 3 will be demolished to make more space for the massive wingspan of the plane. The first test flight of the A380 will take place in April although Airbus is keeping the exact date under wraps. The work at Heathrow needs to be completed by the end of 2005, in time for the first A380 to start operating at Heathrow in spring 2006.

The ancient city of Babylon has suffered extensive archaeological damage during the US-led occupation of Iraq, warns a report issued by the British Museum on Saturday.
The report states that prehistoric brickwork has been crushed beneath military vehicles, precious stonework used to fill sandbags and important historical sites damaged by newly dug trenches.

"This is tantamount to establishing a military camp ... around Stonehenge in Britain" says John Curtis.
What like this? Salisbury plains is a huge MOD area. Not immediately around Stonehenge but less than an artillery round away. Probably.
