Space Hardware atm - which is making them very slow to load as the page goes off looking for Haloscan stuff, decides eventually it can't find it and carries on with the rest. It was down at least 3 times yesterday too. How many times has Blogger's comments been down in the same time? That'll be zero. Yay for Blogger!

The plain truth of the matter is Haloscan is a heavily oversubscribed free service. They can't be making much (if any) money for decent hardware and bandwidth. They will always have problems. Whereas Blogger is also a free service it is not over subscribed in as much as if they have hardware/bandwidth problems Google will just throw more money at it. And if HS's comments are steam powered maybe they need Fred Dibnah as their webmaster - he'd get it sorted. Aye, sharp like, ey oop.
That should be the case you would think - but out of the small sample of you, me and ILN 66% have chosen to remain with HS. I know the conversion on the upgrade didn't work automatically on this site. It refused to do it and I had to go in and play with the templates manually. Most people will stop at that point. I to don't know why they wrench monkeys - I'd rather spank them.
*too
I have indeed been playing with code - but nowt that would break it. May I humbly suggest that your shite ISP at work is screwing up on the proxying? Or something else entirely.
What's really amusing is that if you look down the links on the left hand side, we've still got one that says "WE use" and a big Haloscan link. I think that deserves a "Parp"!!
I don't have a problem with NewLinks. With regards to Haloscan, i prefer it to the way Blogger's comments are done.Who cares if they are down occasionally because nee bugger uses my comments anyway. :-)
I just got an e-mail asking me if I wanted any...
Ex-lease monitors, supreme quality, boxed.
Absolute grade-a. All cosmetic ok, with feet and flaps.
Superb!
Bungers, we do use Haloscan - just not on this site ;) Actually that's how I noticed it wasn't working when that disappeared. I'll kill it this afternoon though (the icon - not HS bwahahaha!). HS is def back (for) now as I've just commented on BS's toon post. And yes we'll happily do a 'HA HA Space Hardware's comments aren't working again' post! :)
He said flaps... snigger.
I too have had problems with time out errors on Blogger's comments today, i've also had problems trying to save/publish minor changes to my template but then again Blogspot is quite good at having it's own problems. That may be down to an unusually large amount of Torrenting that my PC is doing now. :-)
Blogger's webservers (or at least one of them was anyway) were down temporarily just before - so that may have caused intermittent problems - but when they go it's not just my glass house that breaks, it's yours and everyone else at Blogspot. Re your banner: very nice pic, but I have to be hypercritical (in a constructive way) and say it is a little on the large side - possibly the world's biggest banner. ;) If you have any problems with inserting images in future etc just give us a shout here and we should be able to help you.
PS: Dogs! Set your profile up - jsut a couple of clicks and you get all sorts of wonderful info. Click on my name here to see what I mean. Click on your name to set yours up.
I set my profile up last night. :) Clicky see
WTF? Some server error shizzle so i clicked back then publish again, repeatedly, until it showed.
Damn Blogger comments.Load of Shizzle :-)
back, publish (throw params at server again), back, publish (throw params at server again), repeat ad infinitum. Express surprise when comments repeat. :) Press the bin icon next to your comment - and it will erm... bin it...
Mr Sink, you're more than welcome to come on any of the forthcoming Newlinks Trips! We have a habit of kicking them off, and ending them in one of our local watering holes. Check out the Official Culley Tour report http://newlinks.blogspot.com/2004/05/byker-cully-report.html for evidence. On our last tour we had eight bloggers! We're nearly better than a Fark Party!
The next one might be a pub quiz, in The Carriage... or I suppose there is always Steak Night at the Fog, erm, I mean whatever it's called now... mmmm steak... /homer
Just think that one over for a minute... Steak, and beer.... steak and beer.... argrghagrhagrhagrha!
I'm game for a pint - surprise, surprise. So taht'll be the bottom club just across the road? :) You should have come to the New Links night out at the beginning of last month much fun was had by all. Or indeed any of our tunnel trips as they invariably feature alcohol at some point.
Yeah - me for history, Bungers for slebs, ILN for footie and BS for politics, and of course you on vibrating penis jewellery. We are onto a winner ;)
YAY to pub quiz.Come on Bungers sort it out and we may forgive you for a missing Victoria Tunnel report. :P
Argh!! I'm waiting for photos!!! I get them back on Friday, and I'll post it at the weekend! Yarrrrrr!!
I'm not forgiving him for it - not after I spent hours doing the fscking Cully one! Actually ILN I have 3 photo's from the Vicky tunnel - if I get them to you, can you scan them then whizz them over to Bungers for his report?
Yeh, no problem.
Anyways... how come I'm in charge of all the outings... I'm the Commercial Manager round here, not the Minister for Travel and Tourism.... ;)
But as BBC DG as well you should have the finger on the pulse of all things cultural including going out and getting ratted. :)
You get the job as pub quiz organiser by default, Bungers, as you are the only one who attends such outings to my limited knowledge anyway.
What night is the quiz on in The Chilly?
We all go 3 times a week - we just don't invite you! ;)
