Deserted Japanese coal town

It appears dogs has unearthed an historical artifactThis is an abandoned town in Japan called Gunkanjima. in 1810 this town was created on a reef due to the discovery of coal. As the waste from the mines came out the reefs got bigger. Eventually the town was abandoned in 1974 due to the mines being exhausted.

Next New Links trip? If we win the lottery maybe. After our fondness for urban, industrial archaeology demonstrated by our trip to the Byker Cully (here - maybe we should have done the pictures in B&W for that arty vibe!) and Victoria Tunnel (still lost in Bungers' mind) this one is a natural.

New Links can never have to much Schama!

We could do a Viz style strip based on him called 'Simon Schama and his jammy bastard karma' where he turns up vast historical treasures accidentally. I'm off to sharpen my pencil.

That game has probably been banned by the PC crowd. You'll probably be able to play 'Relax the veggie by singing folk music' or something.
