Next Zelda on Xbox?

Wishful thinking on my part perhaps but Gamespy are reporting that Bill has made an offer for Nintendo. Sort of. He has reportedly said
"If Hiroshi Yamauchi phones me up, i will pick up at once," Gates told WirtschaftsWoche magazine on the sidelines of an analyst conference.

Gates added he would immediately make an offer if Yamauchi was willing to sell.
If such a thing was to happen, and it's a pretty huge leap from a quote in a German magazine to MS taking over the Big N, I can't see it happening quickly enough to really see Zelda on the Xbox but there's plenty of time for it to be sewn up by Xbox 2. Microsoft have been snapping up top developers for a while but this would be something else - as well as the developers they would own some of the best loved gaming franchises in the world. Sony are going to have to buy Sega now. Or something.

I saw this on Engadget t'other day.
"Nintendo not for sale."Its a good thing really cos Micro$oft would only cock up Mario and Zelda, in the quest for more $$.

The BBC sre reorting Nintendo denials too - but I reckon it would be nice if it happened. It would mean I could buy one console instead of two. And still have enough change for a PS3. Probably.

I don't think MS would necessarily cock it up either. They've got a good strong range of titles already and it's in their best interests to not fsck about with something like Zelda.

I liked Mario Sunshine a lot! Class game.

Wouldn't MS(vid game bit)+N still be smaller than Sony? And if that's the case would they then fall foul of monopoly laws?
