Micro$oft turn back on Internet Explorer

Micro$oft owned site Slate are now recommending you use Mozilla Firefox instead of I.E.
I agree, I've been using it since it was called Phoenix/Firebird and its great.
Tabbed Browsing, Super fast loading times and all the custom extensions you can shake a stick at.
In short:
Firefox pwnz IE! [that means its good for all you non l33t speakers out there!]

Firefox is by far and away the best browser out there. I want to upgrade to 0.9 but I've seen a few horror stories about moving from 0.8 to 0.9.

I've had nine installed for a couple of weeks, but I've just started using it as my default browser today, after reading about the latest IE vunerabilities that still haven't been patched, alledgedly.

The only bummer is that I can't find my blogger button!

:)

Oh, and nice linkage this morning, bhell13. :)

Today's excuse is: "Permanent initialisation crash"

Im still on 0.8 aswell. I want to upgrade to 0.9 to use cool new extensions like Gmail notifier and FoxAmp but have heard first hand of people loosing [heh heh] all their settings, bookmarks and extensions.
I use MozBackup to keep my setting etc safe but had problems tranferring them to 0.9
But I havn't tried it on 0.9.1 yet.....

I'll have to check out 9.1 to see if there are any problems with that one.

Did you see the BugMeNot extension for Firefox? That one is probably my favourite.

Yeah, that one's great.
You probably already know this but for those that dont:
Clicking a link in Firefox with your middle mouse button [press down your scroll wheel, yo!] opens said link in a new tab.
Now, that is a slice of Fried Gold. :)

That's the main reason I switched. That comes in very handy for link blogging...

But my favourite bit is now the Download Manager. That is superb.

Fried gold, IF you can get your mouse to work. This laptop seems to ignore the scroll wheel, and it looks like I'll have to uninstall the touchpad driver if I want to install the microsoft driver.

Fix that one bhell!!

Sorry mate,
You'll have to ring through on the bhell13 uber-l33tz0r tech helpdesk number, where you will be charged by the second whilst I mock and partonise you before not actually solving your problem.
Your ref for this comment is #144876, the bill is in the post.
[BTW I have no laptop support experience so cant help with the mouse problem, sorry!]

Get a fscking decent laptop you bamp!

You should get a CharvTop like mine from Lidl's - middle mouse button works fine on mine and it comes with a faux Burberry carry case. Probably.

This p-p-p-powerbook has never seemed to work since I got it!

I tried it pretty quickly after you told me about it. I just didn't start using it then as it was not as good as IE - exploits aside.

The latest builds of Firefox have been fantastic. As the linked article in the main post points out if you are still using IE you are a mug. You are pwned! I still use IE for GTray and a couple of sites that break in Firefox but that's it.

I've just installed 0.91 and there were no problems importing anything except my installed extensions. That'll take at least 3 minutes to sort out. :)

And now I've installed 0.91 I can install the new GMail extension mentioned earlier so that's one less reason to ever fire up IE.
