Tongue-twisting budgie is CD star. The linguistic skills of a Geordie budgie that died more than 40 years ago have been immortalised on a CD published by the British Library.
Sparky lived in Newcastle until 1962 and had a repertoire of more than 500 words and 380 sentences. His stuffed remains are on show at the Hancock Museum in Newcastle, where visitors hear examples of his mimicry.

IE Security Flaws *yawn* So what's new?

Courtesy of The BBC comes news that there has been not one, not two, but three serious security problems for the price of one in IE6. Microsoft's take?
So, the fix is at best, over two weeks away. Unless the threat has "grown significantly". Personally, I consider remote code execution exploits to be a pretty damn' significant threat, but they didn't ask me.
Microsoft suggests users avoid visiting sites they don't trust -- which for me at least, means not visiting any sites...
No, this isn't a "two minutes of hate" about Microsoft, I just find it hard not to snark when they make such ludicrous statement.
The good news is that the IE7Beta2 "technology preview" isn't affected -- so that's my laptop safe, at least.
Regardless, for my regular browsing, I'll stick to Firefox.
Microsoft said it would produce patches for the vulnerabilities in its next security update due on 11 April.

I've been a bit remiss in posting, I know. Sorry chaps. Some heavy RL stuff happening right now.
Anyway...
Here's the trailer for the upcoming Zelda DS title, (wmv) "Legend of Zelda: Phamtom Hourglass".
Looks cute. Old-school top-down using a nice 3D engine with quite a lot of stylus interactive-y stuff. Can't wait.
Edit: A smaller Quicktime version is available here. I recommend the WMV version unless you're on dialup or can't view Quicktime.

Millenium Bridge Closing Video
posted by ILuvNUFC @ 12:43:00 PM

Here is a video that I shot with my camera, so excuse the quality, and uploaded to Google Video.
It was my first attempt to upload videos to Google Video and it was all rather easy as you would expect as Google seem to be good at letting HTML idiots like me rule the web! You do have to download and install a tiny program to upload the videos from then on it's very easy. They also seem to accept most file types before they convert it to Flash. My only moan was that I had to wait 2-3 days for them to "verify" my video.
Anyhoo on with the video...
You can download a QT video of it from here if you so wish.

Stuff

I've fixed the sidebar the only way that I know how to and it is looking a little better but I would expect someone who knows what they are doing to go in and tidy it up as my efforts were rather haphazard. There still seems to be a problem with the post boxes in that they don't work properly if the post is too big. I've no chance of being able to fix that myself so either I'm waiting on someone else to fix that or just don't do any long posts.
I've also renamed an empty box in the sidebar with our other sites in so please let me know if I've missed you out and I will add it the next time I go there. I've also renamed one of the boxes to stuff which, for now, only includes a link to the icon generator so you can add Technorati icons to your posts.
If you can think of anything else that should be added please let me know.
One final thing for now. We are looking for new contributors to this site so if anyone wants to post here go ahead and email me.
You will find my email address at my place Look At This...

Gridwars - Geometry Wars for free!

Unless you've been hiding under a rock, you must have heard of arguably the best game on the Xbox360 -- Geometry Wars!
Available as a $5 download from Live!, it's fast, frenetic and hugely addictive.
And now it's been cloned for the PC. It's free and a tiny 2.5MB download -- if you're on DSL/Cable, start now and by the time you finish reading this post, it'll be done downloading!
On the same page there's also a bunch of recreations of classics which, like Grid Wars, are written in Blitz Basic. There's Marble Insanity, a tribute to the venerable Marble Madness, DeBlitzer, a Defender-a-like, Blitzatron, a decent simulacra of another Williams' classic, Robotron 2084, and number of others, all for free! Head on over to check it out.
Blitz Basic, of course, started life on the Amiga, a home computer close to many a new-linker's heart.
Are we still alive? Hard to say. We're certainly still twitching ;)
