The new National Lampoon film will be released on DVD 4 days after it gets it's cinema release. The Movie Marketing Blog are saying it is to capitalise on the marketing push generated by the release of the film in the theatre.
Nothing to do with trying to cut down on piracy then? If legitimate DVDs are on the streets before or not long after a decent pirate version is released then that has to help sales. Whatever the reason I think it's a good move as it kills the must buy twice situation - ie going to see it on cinema release so you can see a film as quickly as possible then buying it again on DVD to keep. You can just wait four days and buy the DVD now.
