In the news today...

Kilroy Silk has officially launched Veritas. His new party. He's going to implement some "startlingly different" policies on immigration and make Great Britain great once more. Like in the good old days.

I'm sure the Tories are overjoyed -- it's someone who'll get fewer votes than even their candidate come the next election!

Dogs said...

I wouldn't bank on it. There's a lot of sun tan lovin fascists out there.

But WTF kind of name is Veritas? Verity means truth which is a bit ironic considering Kilroy has admitted to telling a few porkies when he was a Labour MP

Welcome back Dogs! I've been busy a lot this week too but i still manage more than one post a week. ;)

The Sun readers' vote will now be split 3 ways - Tory, UKIP and Veritas. Sounds good to me.

Greetings ILN

Thought you'd go jumping on the lack of posts/sarky comments bitchin bandwagon eh? I like to think I offer readers something a little different. And rare.

But there you go, I did a proper post just to please.

Glad to see you managed to beat my negative score on fantasy footy this week. Let's see what happens tonight!

mmChronic said...

I'd forgotten about the league update. I'll do a post soon.

Can I have a go on the band wagon too? It sounds like fun.

Dogs said...

Waddya mean? It was you who started it.

mmChronic said...

!??!?

When? I always get the blame around here!

I think your are suffering from delusions of grandeur if you think it's bandwagon mind. I think it's more a tartan shopping trolley at best.

Dogs said...

You regularly make comments about my lack of posting. Go hunt the evidence yourself as I have work to do :)

So that's you, Merg and ILN. That's a bandwagon if you ask me but I'm quite happy to be downgraded to a tartan shopping trolly.

Dogs said...

Has anyone noticed that the comments frequently have booger all to do with the post?

Start a post about Kilroy Silk and before you know it our readers are more concerned about ILN's cat killing habits.

Kick out everyone whose ancestors aren't from here, I say!

(will the last one to leave please turn out the lights?)

Merg said...

PS Dogs - Your posts and comments are certainly "different". And rare.

mmChronic said...

I thought you meant today's bandwagon as bandwagon is by it's very definition the thing of the moment that people climb onto, gathering momentum all the time. If you are taking into account intermittent historical cracks by me it is definitely a tartan shopping trolley - taken out once a week to cash the pension and buy cat food and cheap mince then put away again.

Today only Merg and ILN have had a little pop and I said nowt. Pah. I don't think I've said anything about your lack of posting for ages.

Has anyone noticed about comments being OT? It was discussed and defended just the other day! You should read New Links. ;)

Merg said...

Stop it!

You'll only encourage him!

Dogs said...

Why are you defending me mC? <Bellamy> You fookin do-gooder <Bellamy>

No need, really.

Let's rant about posts being hijacked a bit more (I like to rant and therefore anything I say is fully justified).
How about don't you hate it when you post and then people who comment refer to you in the third person. Hey!!! it's my post DUDE

Yours sincerely

The troll aka fanboi.
Mmmmmmm framerates. Goooooooood

mmChronic said...

I questioned that myself. But it was more a defence of the right to comment on anything anywhere really.

And you really should learn to do entities properly you dolt. ;)

We started referring to you in third person when you abandoned the discussion as we weren't expecting you back for another week. It would have just looked odd if we continued talking to you as if you were really there. Or something.

We even started dissing you en francais today to show our cosmopolitan nature.

Merg said...

To me, it's just like a conversation. If my comment's directed at mC, then obviously you ARE the third person. Unfortunately, blogger's comment system lacks threading.

Dogs said...

Oh go on then smart4r5e ;) What's wrong with my entities?
and don't bother mentioning that I forgot the /

Dogs said...

Merg: I know how conversation works. I know I obviously WAS the third person.

mmChronic said...

Your &lt needed to be < to be rendered as <.

mmChronic said...

And strictly speaking the closing tag should have been </Bellamy>. But you're doing very well for a n00b. ;)

Dogs said...

Thanks mC. I will try harder in future.

Anyway, as I feel like a good old mass-debate, I shall press on...

re: Fanboy. I do thoroughly enjoy games and framerate is usually important to me - it helps with the type of game I prefer which is on the simulation/realistic side rather than the arcade/cutesy side. I believe this statement fully entitles me to be called a PC fanboy and I can expect much taking of the p!55. But I don't care 'cos my PC is faster than yours :)

I also think that anyone who plays a lot of games for pleasure yet denies they are a fanboy, and probably thinks they are in some higher echelon that only those in the know can possibly appreciate or comprehend, is talking out their fanboi arse.

Discuss ...

Merg said...

Disagree -- fanboi refers to being obsessed with a particular brand or platform.

mmChronic, for example, owns all the major platforms currently available with the exception of the PS2 -- and he's been tempted to get one of those two.

Thus, I conclude he's not a fanboi.

mmChronic said...

Beat me too it - that's the problem with arguing yesterday. ;)

That's THE definition of a fanboi - a platform zealot who advocates that platform over all others irrelevant of any logic.

If I'm a fanboi for playing lots of games on lots of systems that's fine by me too.

Merg said...

Good games are where you find 'em. My dislike of Sony (as a company) is well-known but I've no doubt GTA:SA is a top game. (Would still rather play it on my PC with a mouse for aiming tho!)

Likewise, I'm not a fan of EA either, but they've done some top games.

And The Sims *shudder*

Dogs said...

Is anyone else getting popups when logging on?

Anyway, mC is a console fanboi. :)
I'm sure that's valid in the context of PC vs console twaddle.

Dogs said...

Oh aye, forgot to mention Merg but you know you shouldn't mention mouse aiming to mC, you'll bring out his innermost console joypad fanboi tendencies ;)

Dogs said...

BTW I've just realised now that my earlier entities didn't work even though they look fine when viewed in IE (yes I have IE at work but I must point out it's NOT by choice)

I guess IE allows the ommision of ;

Merg said...

Yeah, IE allows you to get away with a lot of really bad (and invalid) HTML. This of course can be seen as either trying to help the technically clueless create web-pages... or it can be seen as a "lock-in" attempt since it results in a lot of pages only appearing to render correctly in IE.

Adjust paranoia filters to suit ;)

Dogs said...

My knowledge of html has no need to extend further than the basic requirements of posting links so I'm definitely in the technically clueless category. But I doubt if Bill is trying to help me by allowing badly written html.

More likely the "lock in" but I think it may also be a sincere attempt by MS to expand html functionality.

And if that "locks in" more customers, which is obviously their aim, then fine...if only it was well implemented and secure.

Merg said...

Well, in this case, it's simply rendering badly-written code -- the ; is part of the spec. As I said, the motivations are what one might question. Of course, it could just be that quite a few later features have obviously been crufted onto the MSHTML rendering engine to do things it was never designed to handle, which explains why they don't work very well.

This incluldes much of what I laughingly term its CSS support.

mmChronic said...

Such a console fanboi that I've recently bought games for my PC. Ho hum.

That's not mass debating - it's trolling you fsckwit.

As for the whole entity / IE thing - lamer. ;)

Dogs said...

Oh. Hi mC. Shucks. You got me again. I'd say you're being your usual pedantic self when faced with an obvious truth but you obviously know a lot about what makes a fanboy so I'm not going to argue when you say that you can't be a fanboy if you own titles from another platform. Darn. I wish I had your ability to follow the rules.

The troll.

mmChronic said...

You should try learning some rules sometime. Like say some by W3C.

Re the console stuff - I'd happily argue with you all day on that but you're just regurgitating exactly the same troll lines every time - at least be inventive.

If it makes you happy I'm fanboy. You're still a fsckwit.
